DPP appeals against acquittal of Mike Sonko’s Shs 20 million graft case
The Director of Public Prosecutions has filed an appeal against the acquittal of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko from a 20 million shillings graft case. The DPP has faulted the judgment by anti-corruption magistrate Douglas Ogoti that found the charge sheet to be defective, saying the learned magistrate misdirected himself by relying on an old charge sheet.
EACC officials raided the homes of two KERRA official facing corruption charges of Ksh 500M
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission EACC has raided the residences of two senior officials of the kenya rural roads authority in a probe on alleged embezzlement and irregular acquisition of multi-million properties. and as our reporter Samira Mohammed tells us, KERRA regional accountant for lamu county, Mutambu Kilonzi, and regional director for kirinyaga county, Eng. Joseph Murage Kimata, are being sought in connection with the misappropriation of over ksh.500 million through procurement fraud involving road construction and maintenance tenders.
Turkana CEC Finance Ekidor arrested by EACC detectives with Ksh.6.5M cash in his car
The Chief Executive Officer of Finance Turkana County Michael Eregae Ekidor has been arrested by the detectives from The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission with a 6.5 million shillings cash in his car. EACC carried out a sting operation at the homes and offices of ten individuals, including senior officials of Turkana County, in connection with a 600 million shillings fraud.
EACC seizes Ksh.13.6M in raid at Governor Wamatangi’s home
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has targeted senior Kiambu County officials, including Governor Paul Kimani Wamatangi, over alleged fraudulent deals worth KES 1.5 billion.
According to an EACC statement issued on Tuesday, the early morning raids, which were conducted in multiple locations, resulted in the seizure of Ksh.12 million and USD 13,000 in cash from the governor’s residence, funds suspected to be the proceeds of corruption.
